15th July 2016 – The Third Rowdown School Awards

August 2, 2016 by Gary Coy

For the third successive year, the Foundation teamed up with Rowdown Primary School to organise and host the School Awards presentation with trophies and prizes sponsored by Shard Capital LLP and presented by Gavin Barwell MP.  As the format has worked so well previously, we decided there was no point in changing the nomination process, trophies or prizes, and think this showed in the slick way it all happened.

The nominees and children sitting in the audience behaved perfectly, cheering their favourites and applauding the winners, announced by Gareth Burchell of Shard Capital (and a Rowdown Old Boy).  The excitement rose even further when it was time to announce the Pupils of the Year, one in each category.  There were gasps of wonder when Mrs Shute informed the assembled children that the prizes for these two pupils were a Amazon Fire 8HD tablet and a family day out at a London attraction.

All the winners can be found on the dedicated page of our website.  But for those that can’t wait, the Pupils of the Year 2015/16 are:

Academic Achievement:  Christopher Opoku, Year 6
