14th July 2016 – AGM Held
We had our AGM this evening: thanks to all the Trustees that gave up their valuable time to attend.
Among the things on the agenda were the boring admin bits (but these need to be done) such as the 2015/16 Annual Accounts (copy available on request, please click here), budgets and the such like as well as the more rewarding stuff such as discussing the progress of each individual pupil and the Tuition Programme. A little bit of patting ourselves on the back for a successful year which saw Brooke (pictured, left), Christopher and Ciara all progress in their classes and perform well in competitions and four boys in Year 6 on the Tuition Programme pass 11+ entrance exams and make it to the schools of their choice: well done to Ubaydullaah, George, Michael and Christopher (pictured above with Gavin Barwell MP and Gary Coy, our Chair). Needless to say, support for all existing pupils and the Tuition Programme was approved for another year. We also approved a new recruit to the Year 5 (next year) Tuition Group…welcome Ferne Harrison.
All this success means that we need to now get serious about fundraising and we spent some time going into some detail about how much we are going to need to find and how much effort it is going to take. Needless to say, all fundraising takes effort and we need to find new donors in order to expand the Foundation’s support to more pupils. The suggestions raised from a golf day (hopefully sometime in the Autumn), quiz night, mufti days, charitable trusts and asking everyone involved with the Foundation to raise our profile and approach local businesses, employers etc. There is a long road ahead especially as it is still a difficult economic environment and there is so much competition out there for funds. If you are reading this and are feeling the urge to contribute, please click here. A monthly direct debit would be lovely, but every single donation will go directly towards helping a child fulfil an ambition.
