Welcome to our World Cup prediction competition.  Gary has been running this in the exact same format for every World Cup and Euro Championships since 1998 and it never disappoints.  You might think that DRC vs Uzbekistan holds no interest for you at 00:30 on a Sunday morning, but by the time you reach fixture 70, you will be addicted by just how many points you can gain on your rivals in our competition.  I’ll be watching, will you?

Use the excel-based Entry Form to simply predict the results in each game and you will be awarded points based on how close you are to the actual score.  The overall winner will receive £250, runner up £100 and third place £50 (although you are, of course, encouraged to donate some of this back to us!).

As there are more teams than ever involved and therefore now 104 matches, we have divided this up into 5 sections and there will be a £20 prize for the winner of each section, so always something to play for.  But please keep a close eye on the deadline for sending your predictions for each section / round.

Gary will provide a blog with updates on the leadership board and some observations on how the tournament itself is progressing.  He is hoping for an England vs Iran final.  England is an obvious choice, but why Iran?  Oh, the look on POTUS’ face if he has to present the World Cup to Iran!  I guess that’s my entry visa to the US cancelled.

To pay the entry donation (minimum £20 please), either use our online donation system or send a bank transfer using the account details provided on the Entry Form rules.

We normally run several mini-leagues so you can get the banter going among your own family and friends.  Whoever wants to organise this, let Gary know on gary.worldcup26@gmail.com and he can organise this for you.
